Abstract
Experimental investigations have been carried out to obtain pure water from saline water of high salt content. The water is processed through a quartz sand filter, two 5 micron filters and then through an Reverse Osmosis(RO) unit. The RO unit contains four Dow SW30 – 4040 membranes. The effects of applied pressure, feed concentration are determined on outlet pressure, product stream flow rate and product concentration. A useful correlation has been obtained that relates product water concentration as a function of feed water concentration and applied pressure.
